Pneumocystis pneumonia (PcP) information

Pneumocystis pneumonia is caused by a fungus called Pneumocystis jirovecii. This fungus is commonly found in the environment and rarely causes any illness to healthy people. It was previously known as Pneumocystis carinii.
This leaflet is for people who are getting care, their visitors, and anyone else who is in a healthcare setting.
